Medicare offers classes for new enrollees
From Public Affairs: Multnomah County Aging Disability Services is collaborating with Mt. Hood Community College to present free classes for those new to Medicare. “Welcome to Medicare” is designed for people nearing age 65 or those who become eligible due to receiving Social Security Disability benefits.
The spring term classes will be presented on:
• Thursday, April 17, 2008 or May 22, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
• Saturday, April 26, 2008 or May 31, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to noon.
The course number is HE4MC.
This course will help participants understand Medicare fundamentals and make informed decisions regarding various Medicare options. Topics include Medicare eligibility requirements and enrollment periods; an explanation of Medicare Part A, B, C, and D; what Medicare does and does not cover; and local resources available. The course is taught by trained volunteers from Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance (SHIBA) in cooperation with Multnomah County Aging and Disability Services.
