Voter registration, party affiliation changes end April 29th
The May 20, 2008 primary election is fast approaching. Multnomah County Elections today reminded voters of deadlines for changing party affiliations or registering to vote in the upcoming election.
The deadline for both actions is April 29, 2008. Only voters registered with the Democratic or Republican parties may vote in those respective primaries.
Unaffiliated voters and voters registered with minor parties may only vote on non-partisan contests. Members of any party can change their affiliation prior to the April 29, 5:00 pm deadline.
April 29 also serves as the deadline for those who have not registered to vote. The form is available online and must be postmarked or submitted to the Multnomah County Elections division by the deadline. More information about voter registration is located on Oregon Secretary of State Bill Bradbury’s website.
Ballots will be distributed to voters in the weeks to come. Questions about voter registration status, address changes, etc. may be directed to the Multnomah County Elections Division at 503-988-3720.
