Timely election results for Election Day

Multnomah County to release unofficial election results on website & at office at 8 pm on Election Day

Multnomah County Elections advises interested parties that the first report of unofficial results will be available when the polls close at 8:00 pm, Tuesday, May 20. Election results will be available on the Multnomah County Elections Division website. Printed copies will also be available at 8:00 pm in the Media Room at the Elections Office at 1040 SE Morrison Street in Portland.

The 8:00 pm results include 100% of precincts reporting, since vote-by-mail allows some ballots from each precinct to be counted by 8:00 pm. Many ballots will be left to count after 8:00 pm, due to the large number of ballots returned on Election Day.

Ballots dropped at official drop sites located throughout the county late on Tuesday will be delivered to the Elections office after 8:00 pm. Ballots that have been delivered late in the day will need to be processed. Due to these factors, the approximate number of ballots to be counted (voter turnout) is unknown until late in the evening on Election Day when all ballots have been processed into the state voter system.

Unofficial results released by Multnomah County will show ballots counted and total registered voters. The current approximate voter turnout figure is available at the Multnomah County Elections Division website.

Voter turnout and unofficial election results will be updated on the website throughout Election Night as additional ballots are counted. Each report on the website will list a report number and the approximate time of the next report. With the large number of ballots expected to be returned on the last day, Multnomah County will be processing ballots through the night and into the next day.
