Hollywood Library has cell phone recycling!
Ask and you shall receive! The Hollywood Library branch - one of the busiest - now has a cell phone recycling box. It's located in the lobby, opposite of the book return. Bring by your phones, chargers, headsets, MP3 players and IPODs to be recycled. The other library branches that have boxes are Gresham, Central, Hillsdale and Midland.

What happens when cell phones are turned in there?
This past Sunday, the show 60 Minutes had a stunning expose' about electronics recyclers - and how many of them aren't actually recycling anything; just dumping in China.

Hey Kari,
The cell phones recycled with the County are reused or recycled. The focus of the 60 Minutes episode was more on TVs, computers and VCR's; all which can be easily smashed and dumped. Our recycler, Wireless Alliance, disposes of all recovered phones in an environmentally responsible, zero waste fashion in compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency. Their EPA ID# is COR 000210922
